Evening Parlor

The narrow frames in this work reference the dimensions of ancestral tablets that are often present in Chinese households. Drinking cups, partially covered with napkins, as though in mourning, take the place of small vases of flower offerings. Daily objects can be imbued with emotions through our actions. Living alone abroad, I’ve made these shrouded forms as temporary stand-ins for familiar symbols of remembrance back home.
